Azzul was born as a way of bridging Portuguese inspirations from our founders native country with his New York design experience. From this fusion grew our vision, team, practices, and principals.
Azzul has taken a multi track approach to making shoes, choosing to work with a diverse selection of factories in Portugal allowing us to create a robust assortment by using specialists in each of the catagories we are producing.
Team
Our broad approach to design can best be described as collaborative, blending New York design talent with industry experts in buying and retail. The combined skill sets of our team gave Azzul a starting foundation of over 75 years of experience.

Our factories have multiple generations of family members working together and sharing learned skills and talents honed over the years
Quality
Each of Azzul's shoes is individually handled and crafted by multiple artisans throughout the construction process, creating a final product of the highest handmade quality.
Textiles
Preserving the artistic touch that comes from "handmade", we re-imagined Portuguese art, culture, and spirit through hand embroidery and weaving, partnering with a talented community of artists.
Authenticity
Retaining traditional methods of production, while modernizing heels and last shapes, Azzul has balanced historical production with modern design.

Our commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion manufacturing is a key focal point for our team. Our vendor partners and suppliers were selected for their environmentally sound practices and production facilities with each receiving numerous industry accolades and accreditations.
