A Note from our founder
Born in Portugal and immigrating to America as a teenager offers me a unique perspective from which to launch our brand AZZUL. Drawing inspiration from Portugal's rich history, our collections have been designed in New York and handcrafted in Portugal.
With the help of local Portuguese artisans and the creative talents of New York designers, AZZUL holds the visionary approach of "honoring the past to design for the future." Our reinterpretation of the classics with a modern flair and a nod to Portugal's craftsmen and artisanal heritage is our story.
Our name is drawn from the Portuguese word azulejos, tin-glazed ceramic tilework, which adorns the exteriors of nearly every building in my hometown, Braga and can be found across the entire country. Azulejos are a symbol of Portugal's art, history, folk traditions and significant industries, many offering an abundance of blue hues from which we drew inspiration for our premier collection.
Our production factories were thoughtfully selected with seasoned experts to manage every aspect of our fabrication. Each location has multiple generations of families working together, passing down their skills, to ensure that our final product is of the highest handmade quality.
I am proud to present, AZZUL, a brand with a voice, story, integrity, and authenticity.
